English FA Cup Finals

The oldest and most famous knockout competition of them all. The FA Cup was first proposed in 1871 by FA Secretary Charles Alcock who’s idea for a challenge cup was put in to practice later that year. The first winners were the Wanderers who beat Royal Engineers in the final at Kennington Oval Cricket Ground in March 1872. 15 teams in all played 13 matches in the competitions debut season. Today over 700 professional and semi-professional teams across England & Wales playing over 700 matches all aspire for a place in the Wembley finale.
